“Indian economy should become decentralized and self-reliant”: Dr. Mohan Bhagwat

Indian thought of development

Dr. Dilip Agnihotri
There is a fundamental difference between Indian and western thought. Due to this, attitudes also change in relation to individual, society, happiness and economy etc. Western countries developed according to consumerist thinking. It also got great success. But this development is adding to their troubles. There is a crisis in the family and society. The excessive exploitation of nature causes environmental problems. Now there is no way for them to get out of them.

There is also a need to make India self-reliant. But due to the imitation of the western world, the same problem will be seen here in the future. Therefore, according to Indian thought, we should move on the path of development.

After hoisting the flag at Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya in Mumbai on Independence Day, Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, the Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh inspired these ideas. Said that the Indian economy should become decentralized and self-reliant. Self-reliance is the foundation of complete freedom.

Capitalism and communism are the only two such paths in the world. But in India, there is a third option related to the economy. Our economic idea has stood the test of thousands of years. As a result, it is not incomplete but complete. Keeping pace with the changes of the present times, India has to accept the ancient economic idea. The economic progress of the individual, family as well as the society is called all round prosperity. Large industries should be operated on the basis of small and cottage industries in India. It should be kept in mind that our system should not be money but person centric. The country became independent. But it is not completely independent.

He described a decentralized and self-reliant economy as inevitable. It is said that in foreign countries the individual is a unit. In India, the family is the social and economic unit. Indian sages termed happiness not as a physical but an internal feeling. Happiness depends on contentment. Sharing happiness leads to satisfaction. We ourselves are happy only when we wish for everyone’s happiness. Chanakya is the root of happiness, the original meaning of religion and the root of meaning is senses. It is more important for us to share than we earn. In our civilization, meaning runs in the discipline of religion.

Due to this, our economic system is not exploited, but is exploited for the fulfillment of essential needs. Profit based on cost of production is our concept. The equitable distribution of wealth created out of this profit is implicit in our concept. Capital, labour, resources, customers and the state all play an important role in business. Swadeshi does not mean rejecting the world. When we buy from the world, we can buy on our own terms, our position should be such. For that there should be a self-sufficient economy.
