President’s visit to Gorakhpur

Ramnath Kovind’s visit to Gorakhpur was important in terms of health, medicine and education. Here he inaugurated the Mahayogi Gorakhnath University. Apart from this, he laid the foundation stone of Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University. Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present on the occasion. AYUSH was launched by the Narendra Modi government to expand health facilities.

In fact, this was in line with the ancient health consciousness of India. In which only treatment was not important. Rather, various measures of healthy living were also included in it. The sages of India composed Ayurveda in ancient times. The sources of healthy living were determined through yoga, ethics, etc. It was all based on in-depth research. Which modern medical science also accepts. The Ministry of AYUSH was formed shortly after becoming the Prime Minister for the last time. The aim was set to revive the ancient Indian system of medicine. It was planned to benefit the people. Emphasis was laid on education and research in the areas of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Homeopathy. Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Homeopathy was formed as the Department of AYUSH during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

Implementation of schemes was initiated to cultivate, promote and revive medicinal plants used in these systems. The Ministry of AYUSH, Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, and Homeopathy was jointly named as AYUSH. Its purpose is to promote education and research of the above. The Ministry of AYUSH had implemented a scheme named AYUSH Aapke Dwar about three years ago. Under which free medical camps are being organized in villages falling within 5 km radius of Ayurvedic and Unani Hospitals. In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also implementing AYUSH effectively. The state’s Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy, Yoga and Naturopathy Institutes will be affiliated with Gorakhnath Ayush University. With this, uniformity will be established in the admission process, regulation of session, conduct of examination and results of AYUSH colleges. An excellent class research institute of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy will also be established in AYUSH University. In which research work will be promoted by coordinating inter-departmental medical practices. Shortly after assuming power by the present state government, the Department of AYUSH was formed as an independent department. It includes Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Homeopathy and Siddha systems of medicine. At present, Directorates of Ayurveda, Homeopathic, Unani and AYUSH Mission are being operated under the Department of AYUSH. There are ninety-four AYUSH colleges in the state. Preparations are also going on for the inauguration of AIIMS being built in Gorakhpur. Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath has set a record of establishing a medical college in Uttar Pradesh during four years. In this respect, his four years are heavier than his seventy years. Twelve medical colleges were built in the state till about seventy years of independence. Thirty-two medical colleges are being constructed in four years. Eight medical colleges were started by the present state government last year. MBBS studies will start in nine medical colleges in this session. Fourteen new medical colleges will be started in the state. There are no government or private medical colleges in the sixteen districts of the state. An action plan has been prepared by the state government for such districts. Medical colleges will be constructed in these districts in PPP mode. Till the completion of the tenure of the present state government, there will be one medical college in each district of the state. Two AIIMS at Gorakhpur and Rae Bareli have been provided by the Prime Minister. Teaching work has also started in both these AIIMS from last session. AIIMS is an important center of world class health facilities. OPD work in Gorakhpur AIIMS has started last year only. It will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister soon after its construction work is completed with a 1000-bed hospital. Yoga, Ayurveda, medical education, higher education, technical education, agricultural education and other employment-oriented courses will be conducted through Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, Gorakhpur. The purpose of this university is to develop a specialized institution regarding skill development and employment, development of all streams of education and to promote high level research. This includes the development of all disciplines of health and the establishment of institutions related to it. By this university, the work of establishing the relevant high level institute of excellence will be done by encouraging technical, vocational education and skill development.
Oriental and modern education and specialized research will be encouraged by Mahayogi Gorakhnath University. By establishing institutes of Yoga, Ayurveda and other disciplines of AYUSH, arrangements will be made for study, teaching, research including establishment of yoga center and clinic for wellness. Apart from this, excellent medical institutions will be established for investigation, consultation and treatment and study, teaching, research to get health from all the disciplines of modern medical system Allopathy. In this university, there will be arrangement for study, teaching, research and construction of all courses related to nursing, pharmacy, paramedical and health. Technical courses will be encouraged for employment. The Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, established by the Maharana Pratap Education Council, will develop in a phased manner and will be helpful in the development of the state.
