The Centennial Celebration week of University of Lucknow was inaugurated by Honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji and Deputy Chief Minister Prof. Dinesh Sharma at the Malviya Hall of the University of Lucknow. Dr. Keya Pandey moderated the inaugural function. At the start Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Lucknow and Deputy Chief Minister Prof. Dinesh Sharma lighten the lamp in chanting of Mangalachar shloka by the students of Department of Sanskrit. Thereafter, a group of students sang kulgeet of University of Lucknow.
Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Lucknow, in his welcome address greeted all the dignitaries and wholeheartedly welcomed the Honourable Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh as well as Neelima Kaityar, Minister of State, Uttar Pradesh Government. In his welcome address Prof. Rai conveyed that during its centennial year University had achieved many landmarks such as implementation of choice based credit system, value added courses, different research promotion schemes, new PhD and D.Lit. ordinances which have been incorporated into the University system in accordance with the New Education Policy.
Apart from that Prof. Rai said that University is not only focussing on textbook education rather it is also looking towards three key aspects Spiritual, Emotional and Intellectual Quotients. In view of this University had established Department of Yoga, Nanoscience center and Department Molecular and Human Genetics to cater the intellectual needs of the students. To cover the emotional quotients students OPD, TREE program had been implemented in all the departments. Also, establishment of Happy Thinking Lab had been established to cover the spiritual quotient parameters. Prof. Rai also told about the SLATE app, which had been used in full swing to conduct online classes in the University during this pandemic, and conveyed that University had obtained copyright as well as trademark for the SLATE application. He also gave insight about the Karmyogi yojna and informed that during pandemic period University had developed its own Sanitizer and Kadha. At last Prof. Rai gave update about day to day events which will be going to held during the centennial celebration and concluded his speech by welcoming the guests of honour Honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji and Deputy Chief Minister Prof. Dinesh Sharma.
Deputy Chief Minister Prof. Dinesh Sharma in his address said that University of Lucknow which is now going to complete its 100th year on 25 November, 2020 had given many illustrious personalities like President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, Dr. Ritu Karidhal Srivastava key scientist in Chandrayaan mission.
He said that the presence of Honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji in this program indicates his willingness and enthusiasm to improve the standard of Higher Education is Uttar Pradesh. He also mentioned that during the conduction of JEE B.Ed entrance conducted this year by University of Lucknow Honourable Chief Minister had minutely observed each and every aspects for the successful conduct of the entrance during the pandemic period. Thereafter, Prof. Sharma mentioned about the illustrious past of the University of Lucknow and remembered many distinguished faculty members of the University. He mentioned that Government had sanctioned and established several centers such as Atal Sushsan Peeth, Bhaurao Devras Peeth, Deen Dayal Peeth in University. He said that the Government had sanctioned around 12 crores for the renovation and maintenance of hostels. Prof. Sharma also mentioned that during Vidyadaan month University of Lucknow had contributed 11500 e-contents in the digital library and more than 1.19 lakh times these contents have been viewed and downloaded. Apart from that Prof. Sharma said that to improve the financial condition of the University the colleges of five new cities had been associated and affiliated with the University of Lucknow. In last Prof. Sharma admired the idea, launch of SLATE app, praised the work and dedication of teaching and non-teaching staff of the University, and said that in coming future University of Lucknow will amongst top Universities in India. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji in his key address congratulated University of Lucknow for achieving 100 year of its establishment and gave blessings for successful conduction of the centennial celebration. In his address, Honourable Chief Minister talked about two major challenges which India is facing. 1) COVID-19 and 2) New Education Policy. He congratulated University of Lucknow to take initiative to conduct online classed during COVID-19 pandemic and mentioned about the Honourable Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modi’s statement “Vocal for Local”. He said that University of Lucknow had given President, Ministers, Judges, bureaucrats, scientist, teachers, business personalities and many more. Whenever, University of Lucknow will analyse its achievements each of these personalities will be like gem in the Necklace. He mentioned that University of Lucknow when implement NEP then it will add new flavour its achievements. He emphasized about the active participation of the Universities in society and come up with new ideas to resolve societal problems. Honourable Chief Minister also said that it’s the responsibility of University to inform students about the government funding schemes such as Pradhaan-Mantri Mudra Yojna so that students can initiate their own start-ups and can strengthen the idea of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”. He said that students should not only gain book education rather should develop themselves in mental and social perspectives. Honourable Chief Minister said that we must be happy with our achievements but must also have a keen look into the shortcomings so that we must try to overcome and rectify those weaknesses. He emphasized that Universities must encourage lok-bhasha and lok-kalayen so that dreams of “Atmanibhar Bharat” can be achieved. At last Honourable Chief Minister again admired the efforts of University of Lucknow in conducting the centennial celebration.

After successful conduction of inauguration session Heritage Walk from Bhaurao Devras Dwar to Machali Dwar was conducted. was conducted.
During this event Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, Prof. Nishi Pandey in kind association with Nawab Jafar Mir Abdullah and Nawab Masud Mir Abdullah made a short trip in a Bagghi through Bhaurao Devras Dwar →Malviyal Hall→Prem Chand Vatika→Arts Quadrangle→Lal Baradari→Tagore Library→Machali Dwar. During this walk Prof. Peeyush Bhargav, Department of Ancient Indian History in association with Dr. Anupma Srivastava and Dr. Prashant alongwith their two students Yash and Sanjay were narrating the architectures and structures of all the buildings.
On the auspicious occasion of the first day of the week-long Centennial Year function of University of Lucknow, the Literary Festival started today with the “International Philosophy Day Program” organized (virtually) by the Department of Philosophy, University of Lucknow to commemorate the birthday of the great teacher Socrates. Prof. K.C.Pandey (HoD), Prof. Rakesh Chandra and Dr Prashant Shukla welcomed the stalwarts of Philosophy like Prof. R.C.Sinha (Chairman-ICPR), Dr. B.M.Pandey (Sangathan Sachiv, Akhil Bhartiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti), Prof. A.D.N. Bajpai (Former VC, Himachal Pradesh University), Prof. R.P. Singh (Centre of Philosophy, JNU), Prof. B.N. Labh (V.C., Nav Nalanada Mahavihar Universityy), Prof. Balram Singh (Director, Advanced Studies, USA), Prof. Jatashankar Tiwari (Retd. Prof., University of Allahabad), Prof. K.Ratnam (Member-Secretary, ICPR), Prof. D.N. Yadav (Pro-VC, N.P. University) and Prof. S.R.Bhatt (President, IPC).
The program started with Saraswati Vandana, followed by Welcome Addrress and a brief description of the Department. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Rai gave the inaugural speech and a very conducive three-hours long discussion took place successfully. The event was attended online by huge number of academicians from India and abroad.
